Question
K and L can complete a work in 16 days. If K alone can
complete it in 48 days, how long will L take to complete the work alone?Solution
Let the total work be 48 units. {LCM (16 and 48)}
So, combined efficiency of 'K' and 'L' = 48 ÷ 16 = 3 units/day
Efficiency of 'K' = 48 ÷ 48 = 1 unit/day
So, efficiency of 'L' = 3 - 1 = 2 units/day
So, time taken by 'L' to do the work alone = 48 ÷ 2 = 24 days
