    Let the distance between village ‘K’ and village ‘L’ be ‘d’ km Let the correct time to travel be ‘t’ hours According to the question, (d/24) = t + (40/60) = t + 0.667 And, (d/36) = t - (20/60) = t - 0.333 Or, (d/24) - (d/36) = 0.667 + 0.333 = 1 Or, (3d - 2d) ÷ 72 = 1 Or, d = 72 km Therefore, distance between village ‘K’ and village ‘L’ is 72 km.
