    Question

    A car covers 162 km in 3 hours. The bike’s speed is 4 m/s

less than the car’s. Find the distance (in metres) travelled by the bike in 3 minutes 30 seconds.
    A 4,200 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 8,500 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 2,310 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 1,100 m Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Speed of car = (162/3) = 54 km/h = 54 × (5/18) = 15 m/s

    Speed of bike = 15 − 4 = 11 m/s

    3 minutes 30 seconds = 3 × 60 + 30 = 210 seconds

    Required distance = 11 × 210 = 2,310 metres
