    Question

Two scooters, ‘G’ and ‘H’, started from towns

‘U’ and ‘V’ towards each other at the same time. When they met after 5 hours, scooter ‘H’ had travelled 65 km more than scooter ‘G’. Find the distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ in 2 hours if the distance between both towns is 365 km.
A 50 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 55 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 60 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 65 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 70 km Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Let distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ at the time of meet = ‘x’ km
So, distance travelled by scooter ‘H’ at the time of meet = ‘x + 65’ km
    According to question:
    x + x + 65 = 365
    Or, 2x = 300
    Or, x = 150
Distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ in 5 hours = 150 km
    Speed of scooter ‘G’ = 150 / 5 = 30 km/h
    Distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ in 2 hours = 30 × 2 = 60 km
