    Question

Out of 240 kilometres, a person covers some distance by

foot and the rest by bicycle. If walking speed is 6 km/h and bicycle speed is 30 km/h, and 25% of the trip is done on foot, calculate the average speed of the total journey.
    A 20 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 15 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 40 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 56 km/h Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    Time taken walking = (0.25 Γ— 240) / 6 = 60 / 6 = 10 hours

    Time taken cycling = (0.75 Γ— 240) / 30 = 180 / 30 = 6 hours

    Average speed = 240 / (10 + 6) = 240 / 16 = 15 km/h
