Question
In a race of 1.8 km, 'C' gives 'D' a head start of 360
metres and still beats him by 180 metres. If 'D' takes 21 minutes to complete the race, what is the time taken by 'C'?Solution
ATQ,
Distance covered by 'D' when 'C' finishes 1800 m = 1800 - 360 - 180 = 1260 m
Speed ratio (C : D) = 1800 : 1260 = 10 : 7
Time ratio = 7 : 10
Time taken by C = (21/10) × 7 = 14.7 minutes
