      Question

A Scooty is currently traveling at a speed of (2a –

      90) km/hr, and a Bus is moving at a speed of (b + 30) km/hr. If the Scooty's speed were equal to that of the Bus, it would take 2 hours less to cover a distance of 360 km. On the other hand, if the Bus's speed were equal to that of the Scooty, it would take 3 hours more to cover a distance of 540 km. Calculate the difference between the speeds of the Scooty and the Bus.
      A 50 km/hr Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      B 80 km/hr Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
      C 55 km/hr Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D cannot be determined. Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E none of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ, According to the question, {360/(2a – 90)} – {360/(b + 30)} = 2 Or, {180/(2a – 90)} – {180/(b + 30)} = 1….. (1) Also, {540/(2a – 90)} – {540/(b + 30)} = 3 Or, {180/(2a – 90)} – {180/(b + 30)} = 1……. (2) Since, both equations are same. Hence required difference cannot be determined.
