      (ii) Descriptive Test: The descriptive Test of 30 Minutes duration with 30 marks will be a Test of English Language (Essay – 10 Marks, Precise – 10 & Comprehension – 10 marks).

      Note:

      • The Descriptive English Test will be conducted in English and only through online mode. The Candidates will get 30 minutes to answer the questions.
      • Before starting to type answers to questions in Descriptive Paper please check all key functions of the keyboard. 

      Part B. - Applicable for Hindi Officers only

      The online written exam of 3 Hours 30 Minutes duration will be conducted in a single phase for Hindi (Rajbhasha) Officers.

      The marks distribution for Test of Hindi Language (Section 6) is: Essay – 20 Marks, Precise – 10, Comprehension - 10 marks & Letter Writing – 10 marks.

      The Descriptive Test of Hindi Language will be conducted only through online mode. Questions will be displayed on the screen of the computer. Answers are to be typed using the keyboard.

      Note:

      For Hindi typing, the candidates should have knowledge of the following key-board layout:

      • Remington (GAIL)

      Before starting to type answers to questions in Descriptive Paper (Hindi) please check all key functions of the keyboard. The Candidates will get 60 minutes to answer the questions.

      Part C - Interview

      Candidates will be shortlisted for Interview on the basis of overall marks scored in Main Examination after evaluation as given in the NICL exam notification. Candidates in Generalist & Specialist categories, shortlisted from the online Phase – II (Mains Examination), along with Hindi (Rajbhasha) candidates selected based on the online written examination, will progress to the interview stage, organized by the Company.

      NICL AO Exam Marking Scheme

      Incorrect responses in both Preliminary and Main Examinations (objective tests), as well as the Hindi (objective test), will result in a penalty. All questions will be of the objective type, offering multiple choices, among which one will be the correct answer. For each wrongly answered question, a deduction of one-fourth of the assigned marks will be applied. If a question remains unanswered (left blank), no penalty will be imposed for that specific question.

      NICL AO Exam Final Selection:

      The overall final score of candidates will be determined by combining their scores from the online Main Examination (Objective test) and the Interview. The weightage for the online Main Examination and Interview will be in the ratio of 80:20. The Company will set the minimum qualifying marks for the interview at a later stage.

For Generalist posts, candidates must hold a graduate or postgraduate degree in any stream with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates). Specialist posts have discipline-specific requirements.

      For instance, Finance applicants should be Chartered Accountants, Cost Accountants, or hold a B.Com/M.Com degree with 60% marks. Legal officers must have a graduate or postgraduate degree in Law with a minimum of 60% marks. IT roles require a B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Computer Science/IT or an MCA with the same percentage criteria.

      Automobile Engineer roles accept degrees in Automobile Engineering or in any branch of engineering with an additional diploma in Automobile Engineering. Medical Officer posts require an MBBS, MD, or MS degree along with valid registration from the National Medical Commission or a State Medical Council.

      All candidates must ensure that they possess the final mark sheet and degree certificate of the required qualification as on 1st May 2025. Failure to meet these criteria will result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.
