    Probation

    Newly appointed NICL AOs undergo a probation period of one year from the date of joining. This probation may be extended twice, each extension lasting six months (up to a total of two years’ probation). During this time, officers must clear the non-life “Licentiate Examination” conducted by the Insurance Institute of India.

    Confirmation of service is contingent upon passing this exam within the probation and any extension period. Failure to do so will result in termination at the end of the extended period. Additionally, NICL reserves the right to terminate the probationary appointment at any time, during the initial probation or its extension, without notice or explanation.

    Guarantee Bond

    Before joining, selected candidates must sign a guarantee bond committing to a minimum of four years’ service, inclusive of probation. If an officer resigns before completing this four-year bond, they must pay liquidated damages equivalent to one year’s gross salary received during the probation year, prorated to their actual service duration.

    Candidates must furnish a stamped bond with two financially sound sureties (non-relatives) for this amount. Resignation or termination during probation also incurs repayment of the entire gross salary drawn to date plus ₹25,000 toward training costs, with no entitlement to leave salary or pension contributions.
