Nationality
A candidate applying for recruitment in the Company must be either:—
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

- Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d), and (e) shall be a person in whose favor a certificate of NICL AO Eligibility Criteria has been issued by the Government of India.

NICL AO Educational Qualification
Educational qualifications differ by stream. For Generalist posts, you need a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any discipline with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST). Specialist roles require discipline-specific credentials: for example, MBBS/MD/MS with valid medical council registration for Doctors; a law degree with 60% marks for Legal; Chartered or Cost Accountant or B.Com/M.Com with 60% for Finance; engineering or MCA with 60% for IT and Automobile Engineering .
All candidates must have their final mark sheets and degree certificates by 1 May 2025. If you belong to a reserved category, carry appropriate certificates to claim age or fee concessions. Failing to meet any of these criteria at any stage—registration, exam, or interview—will result in disqualification .

NICL AO Age Criteria
Before applying for the NICL AO 2025 exam, make sure you meet all the eligibility requirements. You must be between 21 and 30 years old as on 1 May 2025 (born between 2 May 1995 and 1 May 2004). Age relaxations apply for SC/ST (5 years), OBC non-creamy layer (3 years), PwBD (10 years), and other government-specified categories .

NICL AO Age Relaxation
NICL grants upper-age relaxations to several categories under its AO eligibility norms. SC and ST candidates receive a 5-year relaxation, while OBC (non-creamy layer) applicants get 3 years.
Persons with benchmark disabilities are allowed up to 10 years’ relief. Ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers (including ECOs/SSCOs) who have completed at least five years of service are granted 5 years, and defence personnel disabled in operations receive a 3-year concession.
Additionally, existing confirmed employees of public-sector general insurance companies enjoy an 8-year relaxation. Candidates must produce original category certificates at the interview stage, and if eligible under multiple categories, relaxations are combined—capped at a maximum age of 45 years.

Please Note:
For candidates eligible for relaxation in more than one category, the relaxation will be granted on a 'cumulative basis,' following the guidelines established by the Government or the Companies. However, it's important to note that the maximum age, even with cumulative relaxation, should not surpass 45 years.
Candidates who seek age relaxation must present the original certificates during the interview for verification as per the NICL AO Eligibility Criteria.
