There is expected to be plenty of vacancies in both Generalist and Specialist streams with vacancies in Finance, Legal, IT, Automobile Engineering, and Medical streams. Before you apply, make sure you meet the age limit (21–30 years ) and have the required degree for your chosen stream.

NICL AO Vacancy 2026
There is expected to be ample vacancies in the Administrative Officer posts in Scale I for 2026. These will be split into vacancies for Generalist vacancies and Specialis. Specialist posts cover Doctors (MBBS), Legal, Finance, Information Technology, Automobile Engineering, and Hindi (Rajbhasha). In addition, there might be a few backlog Specialist vacancies carried over from the previous cycle.

Please note that:
- OBC candidates classified as "CREAMY LAYER" are not eligible for OBC reservation and age relaxation. They should identify themselves as GENERAL category candidates.
- Reservation in different categories will be in accordance with the current Government Guidelines when the results are finalized.
- EWS vacancies are provisional and depend on additional directives from the Government of India and any legal proceedings. The appointment is tentative and contingent upon the verification of the Income and asset certificate through the appropriate channels.
How to Apply for NICL AO 2026?
Once you have checked the eligibility criteria for your respective stream mentioned in the NICL AO notification, it is essential to note the accurate application process of the same. Not fulfilling or omitting any step of the process may result in the cancellation of your candidature. Therefore, we recommend that you read the following application instructions carefully.
The application window of the NICL AO 2026 will open as per the deadline that will be mentioned on the NICL AO notification. Aspirants need to read the entire NICL AO notification carefully. Try to apply within the deadline mentioned in the NICL AO notification to avoid a last-minute rush of your application.
- Visit the official website of NICL, i.e., nationalinsurance.co.nic.in, and thereafter, go to its recruitment section at the top right corner of the website.
- Click on ‘APPLY ONLINE’ (Link opening soon) which will redirect you to a new screen.
- Click on the tab "Click here for New Registration" and register yourself by entering your name, contact details, and email-id.
- A system-generated registration number and password will be given to the candidate via email and SMS.
- Log in with the system-generated registration number and password and fill in your application form.
- After successfully entering all the details, click on SAVE and NEXT option to verify the details you have entered.
- Candidates will be asked to scan and upload a photo, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration.
- After fully verifying the details, click on the FINAL SUBMIT BUTTON to submit your application. Please note that no modification will be done to the final submission.
- After verifying all the details, it is now time for the payment. The candidate now needs to process and make the payment. After the payment, click on the submit button.
Instructions/Dimensions for uploading documents
Photograph:
- The photograph should be colored, recent and passport-sized
- Dimensions: 200 x 230 pixels
- The size of the file should be 20kb-50kb
Hand-written Declaration
- The declaration should be written in English clearly on white paper with black ink
- Dimensions: 200x 230 pixels
- File size should be 20KB – 50 KB
- It should not be written in CAPITAL LETTERS
Left Thumb Impression
- The applicant has to put his/her left thumb impression on white paper with black or blue ink
- Dimensions: 240 x 240 pixels in 200 DPI
- File Size: 20 KB – 50 KB
Signature
- The signature needs to be done with black ink
- It should not be done with capital letters
- The size should be between 10KB-20 KB
NICL AO Application Fee 2026
The online application fee for NICL AO 2026must be paid within the stipuated deadline SC, ST, and PwBD candidates remit ₹250 (inclusive of GST) as intimation charges, while all other applicants pay ₹1,000 (inclusive of GST) . Transaction charges, if any, are to be borne by the candidate.
Payments are made through an integrated payment gateway supporting Debit Cards (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro), Credit Cards, Internet Banking, IMPS, and mobile wallets or cash cards. After submission, wait for the confirmation message and e-receipt; do not press back or refresh to avoid double charging. If payment fails, log in again using your Registration Number and Password to retry .
Upon successful payment, candidates should download and print the e-receipt and their application form containing fee details. Failure to generate the e-receipt indicates an unsuccessful transaction and will render the application incomplete and invalid . Ensure you retain these documents for future reference, as the application will not be considered without proof of fee payment.
NICL AO Admit Card 2026
Following the successful completion of the online application process for the NICL AO (Administrative Officer) exam, the next eagerly anticipated milestone for candidates is the issuance of admit cards. The admit card, a pivotal document, acts as the gateway to the examination hall. NICL will release the admit cards for download on its official website a few days before the scheduled NICL AO exam dates.
Candidates are advised to closely monitor the official website and the NICL AO notification for updates regarding the release of admit cards. It is crucial to download the admit card within the specified timeframe and before the last date, as failure to do so may lead to disqualification from participating in the examination.
It is important to emphasize that separate call letters will be issued for both 'Phase 1' and 'Phase 2' of the examination. Each phase carries its own significance, and candidates must qualify in one phase to progress to the next. Therefore, staying informed about the release dates for both admit cards and ensuring timely download is imperative.
NICL AO Pre Exam Training 2026
Non‐residential pre‐examination training is available free of cost to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC (Non‐creamy layer) and PwBD categories who indicate their interest while applying online. Training sessions are organised at select centres; details of the date, time and venue are communicated to registered candidates via email and SMS.
Although the training helps familiarise participants with exam formats and question types, attendance does not guarantee selection, and candidates must still meet all cut‐offs in the online tests and interview to progress.
