    shopkeeper is 25:18, respectively while ratio of number of pen to number of pencil sold by the same shopkeeper is 6:13, respectively. If price of each book, each pen and each pencil is Rs. 40, Rs. 20, and Rs. 10 respectively then revenue generated by shopkeeper is Rs. 21000. Find the number of pen sold by shopkeeper.

    Solution

    Let, number of book and number of pen sold by shopkeeper be 25x and 18x respectively. Number of pencil sold by shopkeeper = 13/6 × 18x = 39x So, 25x × 40 + 18x × 20 + 39x × 10 = 21000 ⇒ 1000x + 360x + 390x = 21000 ⇒ 1750x = 21000 x = 12 Number of pen sold by shopkeeper = 18x = 216
