    4 years hence from now, let the ages of Ram and Shyam be '3y' years and '5y' years, respectively So, present ages of Ram and Shyam is (3y - 4) years and (5y - 4) years, respectively We have, (3y - 4) + (5y - 4) = 56 So, 8y = 56 + 8 = 64 So, y = 64 ÷ 8 = 8 So, difference between ages of Ram and Shyam = 5y - 3y = 2y = 2 X 8 = 16 years
