Question
There are 440 balls (wooden + rubber) in a box. Number of wooden balls in the box are 20% more than number of rubber balls in the box. If 40% of the rubber balls in the box are blue, then find the number of blue rubber balls in the box.
Solution
Let number of rubber balls in the box be 'x' So, number of wooden balls in the box = 1.20 × x = '1.20x' ATQ: 1.20x + x = 440 Or, 2.20x = 440 So, x = 200 So, number of rubber balls in the box = 200 So, number of blue rubber balls in the box = 200 × 0.40 = 80
