A shopkeeper mixed wheat bought @ Rs. 48 per kg with wheat bought @ Rs. 64 per kg and sold the mixture for Rs. 73.75 per kg making a profit of 25%. Find the quantity of wheat bought @ Rs. 48 per kg if total quantity of mixture sold is 160 kg.
Solution
Cost price of the whole mixture = 73.75/1.25 = Rs. 59 By Alligation we get Quantity of wheat bought @ Rs. 48 per kg : Quantity of wheat bought @ Rs. 64 per kg
= (64 - 59) : (59 - 48)
= 5 : 11 Quantity of wheat bought @ Rs. 48 per kg = (5/16) × 160 = 50 kg
