      Question

Quantity of water in a 360 litres mixture (Milk +

Water) is 40 litres less than the quantity of milk in it. Find the quantity of water to be mixed so that the quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 50% of the whole mixture.
A 80 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 100 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 60 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 120 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 40 litres Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      Quantity of water in the mixture = {(360 - 40)/2} = 160 litres

      So, quantity of milk in the mixture = (360 - 160) = 200 litres

Total quantity of the mixture if quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 50% = 200 × (100/50) = 400

So, quantity of water needs to be mixed = (400 - 360) = 40 litres
