Question
A container has only two types (P and Q) of oil in the
ratio 3:2 respectively. When 90 litre of oil Q is added to the container the quantity of oil P becomes 25% of that of oil Q. Find the capacity of the container if it becomes full after addition of 90 litre of oil.Solution
Let the quantity of oil in the container be 3x and 2x litres respectively. According to the question, => 3x = 0.25 × (2x + 90) => 2.5x = 22.5 => x = 9 Total capacity of the container = 3x + 2x + 90 = 135 litres.
