    Quantity of milk initially in container = (3/8) × 640 = 240 litres Quantity of water initially in container = (5/8) × 640 = 400 litres According to question, 240 / [400 + (x + 20)] = 3 / 7 ⇒ 240 × 7 = 3 × (420 + x) ⇒ 1680 = 3 × (420 + x) ⇒ 1680 = 1260 + 3x ⇒ 3x = 420 ⇒ x = 140
