Question
In a mixture, the quantity of sugar is 25% of the
quantity of water. On removing 70 litres mixture and adding 10 litres each of sugar and water, the quantity of sugar becomes 18 litres less than that of water in the final mixture. Find the final quantity of water.Solution
ATQ, After removal of 70 litres of mixture, Let the initial quantity of water be '100c' litres. Initial quantity of sugar = 0.25 × 100c = '25c' litres. ATQ, 100c - 25c = 18 Or, 75c = 18 Or, 'c' = 18/75 = 0.24 Therefore, final quantity of water = 100c + 10 = 100 × 0.24 + 10 = 24 + 10 = 34 litres
