Question
A mixture of juice and water contains 20% water. If βxβ litres water is added to the mixture, then the quantity of water and juice becomes same. If the quantity of final mixture is 24 litres, then find the value of βxβ.
Solution
Let the total quantity of initial mixture be βaβ litres. Quantity of juice initially = 80% of a Now, 0.8a = 24/2 => a = 15 litres According to question, => 20% of a + x = 12 => 0.2 Γ 15 + x = 12 => x = 9 litres
