    C.P of mixture = Rs. (53.10/118) × 100 ⇒ Rs. 45 Let the quantity of rice costing Rs. 42 per kg be x kg Now, as per the alligation method (50 – 45) : (45 – 42) = x : 7.5 ⇒ 5 : 3 = x : 7.5 ⇒ x = 2.5 × 5 ⇒ 12.5 kg ∴ The quantity of rice costing Rs. 42 per kg is 12.5 kg
