Question
A rectangle has a length of 22 cm and a width of 6 cm. A
square has the same perimeter as this rectangle. What would be the circumference of a semicircle whose radius is the side length of the square?Solution
ATQ,
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(22 + 6) = 2 × 28 = 56 cm
Perimeter of the square = 4 × side of square
56 = 4 × side of square
So, side of square = 14 cm
Radius of the semicircle = 14 cm
Circumference of the semicircle = πr + 2r = (22/7) × 14 + 2 × 14 = 44 + 28 = 72 cm
