Question
In 2019 when his income was Rs. 40,000, Ramesh spent 50% of
his income and saved the rest. In 2020, if his income increased by 10% and his expenditure increased by Rs. 1,000, then by how much did his savings increase as compared to that in 2019?Solution
ATQ,
Amount spent by Ramesh in 2019 = 40000 × 0.5 = Rs. 20,000
Amount saved by Ramesh in 2019 = 40000 - 20000 = Rs. 20,000
Income of Ramesh in 2020 = 40000 × 1.1 = Rs. 44,000
Amount spent by Ramesh in 2020 = 20000 + 1000 = Rs. 21,000
So, amount saved by Ramesh in 2020 = 44000 - 21000 = Rs. 23,000
Increase in savings as compared to 2019 = 23000 - 20000 = Rs. 3,000
