Question
In 2018 when his income was Rs. 50,000, Karan spent 60% of
his income and saved the rest. In 2019, if his income increased by 25% and his expenditure increased by Rs. 1,500, then by how much did his savings increase as compared to that in 2018?Solution
ATQ,
Amount spent by Karan in 2018 = 50000 Γ 0.6 = Rs. 30,000
Amount saved by Karan in 2018 = 50000 - 30000 = Rs. 20,000
Income of Karan in 2019 = 50000 Γ 1.25 = Rs. 62,500
Amount spent by Karan in 2019 = 30000 + 1500 = Rs. 31,500
So, amount saved by Karan in 2019 = 62500 - 31500 = Rs. 31,000
Increase in savings as compared to 2018 = 31000 - 20000 = Rs. 11,000
