Question
Two runners start from points R and S which are 198 km
apart. Runner A starts from R at 5 a.m. at 36 km/h. Runner B starts from S at 6 a.m. towards R at 54 km/h. When will they meet?Solution
Time gap = 1 hour → Distance = 36 × 1 = 36 km
Remaining = 198 – 36 = 162 km
Relative speed = 90 km/h
Time = 162 / 90 = 1.8 hrs = 1h 48m
Meeting time = 6:00 a.m. + 1h 48m = 7:48 a.m.
