    Question

What is the least number which when divided by 4, 6 & 8

leave a remainder 6 in each case & it is also divisible by 5?
A 21 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 25 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 27 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 31 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Number which when divided by 4, 6 & 8 leaves a remainder 6 = LCM (4, 6 &8)k+6 = 24k+6, Now it should be also divisible by 5. So (24k+6)/5 = (20k+4k+6)/5 , it means (4k+6) should be divisible by 5. So when k = 1 then it will be 4Γ—1+6= 10 which is divisible by 5. Hence final answer = 24k+6 = 24 Γ— 1 + 6 = 30.
