Question
The square of sum of two numbers is 9,801 and the sum of
squares of the same two numbers is 5,265. If their H.C.F. is 9, then find their L.C.M.Solution
Let the two numbers be 'a' and 'b'
We have, (a + b)² = 9801
And, a² + b² = 5265
(a + b) ² = a² + b² + 2ab = 5265 + 2ab
Or, 2ab = 9801 - 5265 = 4536
So, ab = 4536/2 = 2268
Therefore, L.C.M = 2268 / 9 = 252
Hence, option B.
