    Distance upstream= 54 km, time taken to row upstream = 6 hrs. Speed upstream = 54/6 = 9 km/hr. Distance downstream= 30 km, Time taken to row downstream = 6 hrs. Speed downstream =   30/6 = 5 km/hr. Man’s rate in still water = (9 + 5) * ½ = 7 kmph
