    6 years from now, let the age of Amit = 4x years Then, 6 years from now, age of Sumit = (5/4) × 4x = 5x years So, present age of Amit = (4x – 6) years Present age of Sumit = (5x – 6) years Sum of present ages of Amit and Sumit = 4x – 6 + 5x – 6 = (9x – 12) years So, 9x – 12 = 114 ⇒ 9x = 114 + 12 = 126 ⇒ x = 126 / 9 = 14 So, difference between present ages of Amit and Sumit = 5x – 4x = x = 14 years
