Question

    Present age of ‘R’ is 75% more than that of ‘S’.

    5 years ago, ‘R’ was 2.5 times as old as ‘S’. What is the present age of ‘S’?
    A 8 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 10 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 12 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 14 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Let the present age of ‘S’ be ‘x’ years
    Therefore, present age of ‘R’ = 1.75x years
    ATQ;
    (1.75x – 5) = 2.5 × (x – 5)
    Or, 1.75x – 5 = 2.5x – 12.5
    Or, 7.5 = 0.75x
    Or, x = 10
    Therefore, present age of ‘S’ = 10 years
