    Ivan and Jenny's ages 12 years ago = 2x and x Present ages = 2x + 12, x + 12 Ivan's present age = 42 - 6 = 36 years → 2x = 36 - 12 = 24 → x = 12 Jenny's present age = 12 + 12 = 24 Carl's present age = (1/6) * 24 + 18 = 22 years Required ratio = 22:36 = 11:18
