    Present age of Preti, Purnima and Payal = 24 × 3 = 72 years Let present age of Purnima  be ‘x’ years. Present age of Payal  = (x + 5) years Present age of Preti  = (x + 10) years According to the question, => (x + 10) + x + (x + 5) = 72 => 3x = 57 => x = 19 Preti’s age 9 years ago = (19 + 10) - 9 = 20 years
