    Question

The age of Kiran 4 years ago was 10% more than the present

age of Deepa. 4 years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 5:4. Find the difference between their present ages.
A 4 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 6 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 8 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 10 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 12 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

Let the present age of Deepa be ‘x’ years
    Therefore, present age of Kiran = (1 + 0.1)x + 4 = 1.1x + 4

    According to the question,
    (1.1x + 4 + 4) / (x + 4) = 5/4

Solving the equation, we get x = 20 years
    Then, Kiran's age = 26 years
    Required difference = 26 – 20 = 6 years
