Question
A hall is in the shape of a rectangle with a length of 30
metres and its perimeter is 90 metres. If the hall is to be tiled at Rs.10 per square metre, calculate the total cost of tiling.Solution
ATQ,
Let the breadth of the hall = 'b' metres
Then, perimeter = 2 × (30 + b) = 90
So, b = (90 ÷ 2) - 30 = 15
So, area of the hall = 30 × 15 = 450 m²
So, cost of tiling = 450 × 10 = Rs. 4500
