In the questions given below, there are three statements followed by three conclusions I, II and III. You have to take the three given statements to be true even if they seem to be at variance from commonly known facts. Read all the conclusions and then decide which of the given conclusions logically follows from the given statements disregarding commonly known facts.

Statements:

All Chapters are Paragraphs.

Some Paragraphs are Topics.

Conclusion:

II. Some Topics are Headings.

III. Some Paragraphs are Headings.

Solution

All Chapters are Paragraphs (A) + Some Paragraphs are Topics (I) → No conclusion. Hence conclusion I does not follow. All Headings are Chapters (A) + All Chapters are Paragraphs (A) → All Headings are Paragraphs (A) + Some Paragraphs are Topics (I) → No conclusion. Hence conclusion II does not follow. All Headings are Chapters (A) + All Chapters are Paragraphs (A) → All Headings are Paragraphs (A) → Conversion → Some Paragraphs are Headings (I). Hence conclusion III follows.
