Who among the following is the
BO? Answer the questions based on the information given below. Six persons P, Q, R, S, Y and Z work in pharmaceuticals company in six different posts i.e. President, GM(General Manager), AM(Area Manager), SM(Sales Manager), BO(Billing Officer) and Clerk but not in the same order. These designations are in the decreasing order as President is the senior – most post and Clerk is the junior – most post. Each of them took leave on one of the days among Monday to Saturday but not in the same order. The President took leave on Tuesday. At least two persons ranked between the one who took leave on Wednesday and the one who took leave on Monday but the one who took leave on Wednesday ranked higher than the one who took on Monday. There are two people ranked between Q and the one who took leave on Thursday where Q’s rank is higher than the one who took leave on Thursday. Z, who took leave on Friday, ranked higher than the one who is a SM in SBI. P is not ranked immediately below Y. Y is ranked higher than P but lower than the AM. R, who is ranked lower than S, took leave on Saturday. S is not the AM.Solution
1. The President took leave on Tuesday. 2. Y is ranked higher than P but lower than the AM which means Y must be working as SM and P must be working as Clerk. 3. Z, who took leave on Friday, ranked higher than the one who is a SM in SBI. 4. At least two persons ranked between the one who took leave on Wednesday and the one who took leave on Monday but the one who took leave on Wednesday ranked higher than the one who took on Monday. Now, Z works as either GM or AM. So, we have two possibilities for Z. Case I: When Z works as GM:
5. There are two people ranked between Q and the one who took leave on Thursday where Q’s rank is higher than the one who took leave on Thursday. 6. S is not the AM. R who is ranked lower than S, took leave on Saturday. Now, in case I, Q must be the President which means R must be working as BO and S works as AM which invalids the case I as S is not the AM. Now, in case II Q either works as President or as GM but when Q works as GM we cannot fix R who took leave on Saturday, So, Q must be working as President and S works as GM.
