Each person likes different subjects among Hindi, History, Geography, English, and Civics however not necessarily in the same order. What is P's weight? Statement I: O is 5kg lighter than N. The one, who likes Civics is heavier than N, but not the heaviest. P likes Geography. Q is lighter than P. The one, who likes Hindi is lighter than Q. R likes History. Statement II: Q is 3kg heavier than N. N, who likes English is 5kg heavier than O. Neither O nor R likes Geography. Q likes Civics. R is not heavier than P. O doesn't like History.Solution
From statement I alone, O is 5kg lighter than N. The one, who likes Civics is heavier than N, but not the heaviest. P likes Geography. Q is lighter than P. The one, who likes Hindi is lighter than Q. R likes History. We get: Case 1: When Q's weight is 70kg.
Case 2: When Q's weight is 68kg.
P's weight is either 70kg or 75kg. So, data given in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question. From statement II alone, Q is 3kg heavier than N. N, who likes English is 5kg heavier than O. Neither O nor R likes Geography. Q likes Civics. R is not heavier than P. O doesn't like History. We get:
P's weight is 75kg. So, data given in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question. Therefore, data given in statement II alone is sufficient to answer the question while the data given in statement I alone is not sufficient to answer the question.
