A train of length 480 metres crosses a man standing on platform in 24 seconds. If its speed decreases by 25%, then find the time taken by train to cross a platform of length 720 metres.
Solution
Speed of train = (480 ÷ 24) = 20 m/s New speed of train = 0.75 × 20 = 15 m/s Required time = (480 + 720) ÷ 15
= 1200 ÷ 15
= 80 seconds
