Question
An Indian express train is traveling at 9/15th of its
normal speed and takes 45 hours to reach its destination. How much time would be saved if the train were running at its usual speed?Solution
ATQ,
Let the original speed of the Indian express train be 15x km/hr Speed with which it is running = 9x km/hr When train runs with speed of 9x km/hr it takes 45 hours When it will run with speed of 15x km/hr, the train will take = (45 × 9x)/15x = 27 hours Therefore, difference in time taken = 45 – 27 = 18 hours
