Question
The speeds of Vishank and Karun are 60 km/hr and 90
km/hr. Initially, Karun is at a point P and Vishank is at a place Q. The distance between P and Q is 1350 km. Vishank started his journey 6 hours earlier than Karun to meet each other. If they meet each other at a place R somewhere in between P and Q, then find the distance between R and Q.Solution
In the first 6 hours ,Vishank covers =60kmph × 6hr = 360 km Remaining distance = 1350 – 360 = 990 km Now, Vishank and Karun travels together towards each other. Time = distacne/speed = 990/(90+60) =990/150= 6.6 hours Thus, total time Vishank travels = 6 + 6.6 = 12.6 hours Therefore, distance travelled by Vishank (i,e. distance between R & Q) = 12.6 × 60 = 756 km
