Question
The ratio of the speeds of Y and Z is 7 : 5. When Y increases his speed by 40%, he covers 294 km in 3 hours. Find the time taken by Z to cover 200 km.
Solution
ATQ, Increased speed of Y = (294/3) = 98 km/hr
So, actual speed of Y = 98 Γ· 1.40 = 70 km/hr
Or, speed of Z = 70 Γ (5/7) = 50 km/hr
Therefore, required time = (200/50) = 4 hours
