Question
The speed of a car is 23% more than that of a bike. Both
of them start from a same point. After travelling for 4 hours, the speed of the bike is increased by 36%. After 6 hours from starting, the car was 33 km ahead of the bike. Find the initial speed of the bike.Solution
Let the initial speed of the bike be ‘x’ km/hr Therefore, speed of the car = 1.23x km/hr According to the question, 6 × 1.23x – (4x + 2 × 1.36x) = 33 => 7.38x – 6.72x = 33 => x = 33/0.66 = 50 km/hr
