Question
Two bikers, ‘C’ and ‘D’, start from point ‘R’
and ‘S’ respectively towards each other. They meet after 7 hours, and biker ‘D’ has travelled 105 km more than biker ‘C’. What distance did biker ‘C’ travel in 3 hours, if the total distance between R and S is 595 km?Solution
ATQ,
Let distance travelled by biker ‘C’ = ‘x’ km
Then, distance travelled by biker ‘D’ = ‘x + 105’ km
According to question;
x + x + 105 = 595
Or, 2x = 490
Or, x = 245
Distance travelled by biker ‘C’ in 7 hours = 245 km
Speed of biker ‘C’ = 245 / 7 = 35 km/h
Distance travelled by biker ‘C’ in 3 hours = 35 × 3 = 105 km
