      Solution

      Let the total number of people in the office be β€˜100x’ Number of males in the office = 100x Γ— 0.42 = β€˜42x’ Number of females in the office = 100x – 42x = β€˜58x’ Total number of married people in the office = 100x Γ— (3/5) = β€˜60x’ Total number of unmarried people in the office = 100x Γ— (2/5) = β€˜40x’ Number of married males in the office = 60x Γ— (8/15) = β€˜32x’ Number of married females in the office = 60x – 32x = β€˜28x’ Number of unmarried females in the office = 58x – 28x = β€˜30x’ According to question: 30x = 144 x = 4.8 So, total number of people in the office = 100 Γ— 4.8 = 480
