Question
Three values P, Q, and R are such that P is one-third of Q
and R is the average of P and Q. If the total of all three values is 588, find the second largest value among them.Solution
ATQ,
Let the value of Q be 3x
So, value of P = 3x/3 = x
So, value of R = (x + 3x)/2 = 4x/2 = 2x
ATQ:
x + 3x + 2x = 588
Or, 6x = 588
Or, x = 98
So, the second highest number = R = 2x = 2 × 98 = 196
