Question
The ratio of the pocket money of two persons ‘R’ and
‘S’ is 6:5, respectively. ‘R’ spends 60% of his pocket money while ‘S’ spends 70% of his pocket money. If the savings of ‘R’ is Rs. 90 more than that of ‘S’, then find the total pocket money of ‘R’.Solution
Let the pocket money of ‘R’ and ‘S’ be Rs. 6x and Rs. 5x respectively
(0.4 × 6x) – (0.3 × 5x) = 90
2.4x – 1.5x = 90 → 0.9x = 90 → x = 100
Therefore, pocket money of ‘R’ = 6x = Rs. 600
