Question
The ratio of the pocket money of two persons ‘E’ and
‘F’ is 8:3, respectively. ‘E’ spends 75% of his pocket money while ‘F’ spends 50% of his pocket money. If the savings of ‘E’ is Rs. 180 more than that of ‘F’, then find the total pocket money of ‘E’.Solution
Let the pocket money of ‘E’ and ‘F’ be Rs. 8x and Rs. 3x respectively
(0.25 × 8x) – (0.5 × 3x) = 180
2x – 1.5x = 180 → 0.5x = 180 → x = 360
Therefore, pocket money of ‘E’ = 8x = Rs. 2880
