Question
A total amount of Rs. 17,700 was to be shared between
Ajay and Vijay in the ratio (3/4) to (8/9), respectively. However, due to an error in calculation, the amount was actually divided in the ratio 7:8. By how much did Ajay receive more than what he was originally supposed to get?Solution
Given ratio (3/4):(8/9) = (27/36):(32/36) = 27:32
So, amount Ajay was supposed to received = 17700 X (27/59) = Rs. 8,100
Amount actually received by Ajay = 17700 X (7/15) = Rs. 8,260
So, required difference = 8260 - 8100 = Rs. 160
