(red, white, yellow and blue) . Ratio of number of students in red house to that in blue house is 2:3, ratio of number of students in red house to that in yellow 4:5 and ratio of number of students in white house to that in blue house is 1:3. Find the sum of number of students in yellow and blue house.Solution
Let the number of students in red house and blue house be '4x' and '6x', respectively. So, number of students in yellow house = 4x X (5/4) = '5x' So, number of students in white house = 6x X (1/3) = '2x' ATQ, (4x + 6x + 5x + 2x) = 850 Or, 17x = 850 Or, 'x' = 50 Therefore, required sum = 5x + 6x = '11x' = 11 X 50 = 550
