Question
In an office, the ratio of the number of males to number
of females is 11:7. If 2 males joined the class and 6 females left the class, then the ratio of number of males to that of females in an office would become 5:3. Find the actual number of females in the class.Solution
Let initially the number of males and females in an office be 11x and 7x respectively. According to the question, => (11x + 2) : (7x β 6) = 5:3 => 33x + 6 = 35x β 30 => x = 18 Therefore, number of females in an office = 7 x 18 = 126
